2007 Annual Meeting Cancelled

Aloha Members,

Please accept my apologies and my promise that we are STILL working for you, the membership of HSRT. I would like to express my gratitude to you for believing in us and trusting us to be the leaders to carry your requests that will help bring us closer to the goals that will place Hawaii Radiologic Technologists on the map of success with the highest license standards.

I would like to begin with an update to our annual conference scheduled in May 2007. Unfortunately, issues that have been and continue to be diligently worked on by the Board and myself have become heated and rather time consuming. We recently met and came to a unanimous decision to postpone the annual conference till after June 2007. We will inform you by mail and via this website as soon as our decision is made final for the conference dates and venue.

If any of you would like to send us the names and contact numbers of someone interested in speaking at our conference, please contact us through this website.  We are looking for speakers on all types of topics involving both medicine and radiology.

As most of you have heard, the ASRT has placed sanctions on the HSRT.  I would like you to know that all efforts are being made to try and resolve this issue while maintaining the decision that you have made when you voted to oppose the CARE Bill in 2006.  The Board will remain strong on this issue and promise to keep your decision alive to the end.  If you have any questions or concerns on the future of your Society, rest assured that you have placed HSRT in good hands.

The last I heard, this nation still believes in the freedom of speech and as Americans, we all continue to have that right.  NO man, woman, or Society can take that away.  The HSRT Board feels that these sanctions are in opposition to the basic right of freedom of speech of all HSRT members.  In addition, I believe that the right to actively pursue the political process within our national organization is being limited by the ASRT.  I will continue to fight for what you and I believe in.  Because, if we don't stand for something we will fall for everything.  Again, Mahalo for giving me the opportunity to serve you during this last year.

Mahalo Nui Loa & Malama Pono,
Ke'aka'okalani Garay
HSRT President
